I spy: Headphones with built-in webcam
Written by Robert on December 5, 2008 – 2:28 pm -
Camera in a mobile phone does make sense, but how will you use a camera implanted in your headphones? Only the designers, Andy Kurovets & Kris Dekeijser, can explain the functionality of their unnamed gadget that features a camera in the headset. Probably they are targeting the spy agencies as their potential buyers. If you are also a die hard fan of Sherlock Holmes and looks to capture every detail of the incidents going around you, the head or webcam maybe an ideal spy device for you.

Usability:
The headphones present a giant crystal on the side that conceals the webcam when not in use. You may simply pull the webcam out of the crystal and place it in your table or PC to be used as a camera.

Design Your Own Shoes!
Written by Robert on September 6, 2008 – 7:03 am -
Ryz (pronounced Rise), a Portland based shoe company, has created a new concept that allows anyone to come up their own shoe design. The way it works is that potential designers download a shoe template and create their own design for it. The finished design is then uploaded back to to the site where the web community votes on the styles they like the best. Ryz then takes the popular styles and makes the shoe while the designer makes some money and royalties. If you’re not interested in coming up with your own design and you just want to shop you can do that as well. Check out the different styles available by clicking here.

Stoner Shirt Stolen?
Written by Robert on August 10, 2008 – 8:21 am -
Has anyone heard about the guys from Pineapple Express ripping off a designers shirt and then having a main character wear is for majority of the movie? I think that is pretty ridiculous. I know a lot of movies take brands and knock them off but this one is pretty blatant. It is too bad not much can be done. See the article below.
Even Nikki Finke is on this one.
Brooklyn-based T-shirt designer WOWCH is quite angry with the folks behind stoner comedy “Pineapple Express.” On its website’s blog, it’s claiming that film’s director David Gordon Green “ripped off” one of its designs featuring a cat in the mouth of a shark, available at Urban Outfitters stores circa 2005.
James Franco’s character wears a strikingly similar T-shirt throughout the entire movie. It can also be seen on the poster for the film.

Font Clock mixes typefaces and time
Written by Robert on May 17, 2008 – 1:27 pm -
For most non-designers, the first time they work with a page-layout program, the font list is a playground to them, so their documents tend to be loaded with a painfully high number of fonts. We like to think that more thought was put into the Font Clock, which has different fonts for the hour, minutes, day and date, displayed on those old-skool flippy panels. The clock uses no more than 12 fonts, though from the looks of them, they weren’t exactly chosen for how well they mesh together.
Supposedly made to be a 21st century take on the “British 24-hour clock,” whatever that is, the Font Clock comes in three sizes, costing 0, ,075 and ,580. That makes it a little too pricey for most, but graphic-design firms might go for it, since you can’t put a price on being inspired by time.

éS x Krooked Skateboards x Bobby Worrest Collaboration
Written by Robert on May 16, 2008 – 8:45 pm -
éS Footwear is proud to announce a new collaboration with Krooked Skateboards and Bobby Worrest. Finding inspiration from Bobby’s local Washington D.C. basketball team, the Washington D.C. Wizards, and design inspiration from the crazy mind of legendary skateboarder, Mark Gonzales, éS designers worked some magical wizardry on the Prequel Mid and Square One models.
The Prequel Mid is a black mid-top featuring a gold and blue plaid pattern, while the Square One rocks some sharp black and gold stitching throughout, along with the Krooked eye’s graphic on the side panel.
Available on June 1, 2008, the shoes will come with a free video featuring Bobby and all his boys from back home. Visit www.esfootwear.com for more information and to check out a sneak peak of the video.

Buy Designer Laptops for a Good Cause
Written by Robert on May 12, 2008 – 6:03 pm -
PC Magazine has partnered with HP and a slew of designers to create nine “computerlicious” (one-of-a-kind) laptops for a charity auction. Available on eBay now (and currently up to about 0 a pop), 100% of the auctions’ proceeds will go to The National Cristina Foundation (they donate used PCs to schools and non-profits). If you’ve been looking for a good way to make your new laptop a tax deductible endeavor (or if you just really like Paul Frank), head on over to eBay and do some bidding. [eBay and PCMag] [via]

Redesign proposed for T-Rex trike
Written by Robert on April 11, 2008 – 7:41 am -
ndustrial designer Johnatan Côté of Morelli Designers is proposing a complete redesign of the T-Rex trike. Besides the Ruff Ryders, who buys these? The biggest change is the removal of the roof, which consisted of little more than a couple of tubes in the first place, but added vital roll-over protection and structural fortitude to the vehicle. Coupled with a more dynamic, modern design, the updated T-Rex proposal also incorporates more storage space, doing away with the optional saddle-bags on the current model while increasing much-needed capacity for things like crash helmets and groceries.
